Christina who?

Hey, it's me guys....don't you remember me? Guess I need to start writing more, huh?

This Friday Christoph and I will be heading to the good ol' USA for four weeks. I am so excited about going on vacation for so long (one of the many advantages of working in Germany). We have a few things planned but most of all we are just going to relax. I can't wait!!! I just need to relax for a while.

Plus, Fall is my absolute favorite season! I am really looking forward to seeing the pretty foliage that Indiana has to offer, smelling the fresh autumn air and seeing my family again. It has been over a year now since I have seen them and I can't wait to see how much my little brother has grown. I am sure it will make me sad. :(

Ok, two more days of work. I think I can make it. I think I can...

We salute you, Morton Sausage and Meat Loaf Seasoning Mix.

Last time we visited the US, or maybe the time before that even, we bought a great addition to our spice cabinet. No, wait, this is not a good way to start it. Okay, let's try this: When in the US, I didn't like pizza with sausage at first. I always thought: Sausage? What kind of sausage? What's in it? Cause over here there are plenty of types of sausages, so you gotta be more specific. So something called just sausage made me suspicious. However, I did get to eat it on numerous occassions, either on pizza when there was no other choice, in gravy and as patties for breakfast. And little by little, I came to like it. I think the fact that I found out it's ground pork with sage seasoning made it a lot easier as well. I even learned to make biscuits and gravy from scratch. And then we moved over here again, and the sausage days were over. You just can't buy that stuff over here. So I looked up some recipes, but never got around to making it. At the same time, I was hoping to maybe find some pre-made sausage seasoning next time we visit the US. And that's what I did. They didn't have them at any of the national chains or bigger stores, but I finally found some at the little supermarket in Hymera, IN: Morton Sausage and Meat Loaf Seasoning mix. Just add a tablespoon to each pound of pork, and let it sit overnight. And it was awesome. Great-tasting sausage whenever I wanted. That stuff is killer.
And last night, we used the last of the 6 oz. pack. Not a pack really, more like a little jar, made out of plastic though. We made sausage for pizza last night, and will use more of it for stuffed mushrooms tonight. No problem you might think, especially since we're gonna visit Chistina's parents in two weeks already. WRONG! Cause that supermarket in Hymera, IN, which also made some of the best bologna sandwiches known to mankind, is closed for business. I'm sure we're gonna find something somewhere else, maybe not Morton which would be okay, but for now it's kinda up in the air. So as a tribute to the tasty food this seasoning mix has enabled us to prepare, I present you the following:

Well, it's September already, and still no Neighbor of the Month for August, so let's just go ahead and pick Kindred Spirits. Hey, same template as Alice. What does kindred mean anyway? I won't look it up and you guys can tell me. It will be so much fun.
