Someone's been walking on petals.

What did you do on Friday? You'll never guess what happened to me:

Yeah, you're thinking the right thing. And while I'm at it, here's an incomplete list of things you do not want to happen to you before your wedding, in no particular order:

  1. A state of emergency is declared in the area where you plan your wedding, as the worst flood in 100 years closes highways, devastates homes and leaves over 7,000 people without water. As an aside, the state park you planned your wedding in also has no water and gets closed by the Board of Health as a result. Luckily it reopens just in time. (I'm talking about the floods in Indiana, by the way)

  2. When your wife takes her dress to get pressed and steamed the day before your wedding, the front of the dress gets melted, making it necessary to order a new dress and have it bustled etc. the next morning (that would be the morning of your wedding day).

  3. On the day of your wedding, you call the DJ to go over some things, just to learn that she called said closed park and learned it was closed and there would be no wedding. So instead of calling you to see where you are having it instead, she reschedules with someone else. She helps you get in touch with a replacement.

  4. The liquor store where you ordered the keg realizes it placed your order under the cash register and consequently forgot about it when you go to pick it up.

  5. About a week and a half before the wedding you call the florist to learn that they have also lost the paper where they noted what you wanted your flowers to look like and how to get in touch with you.

  6. It rains on and off all day on the day of your wedding.

  7. As the bride is on her way from the hairdresser to put on her dress, she gets stopped by a train for a whopping 20 minutes.

Luckily, everything worked out great. The dress fit better than before, the flowers were pretty, we had beer and music, it didn't rain at night when we had the ceremony and we could have it in the park as planned. Christina was absolutely beautiful, and I have got to be the luckiest man alive.
